Perhaps it was a tongue-in-cheek reply to fashion's mad merry-go-round of late, or to its gradually frenzied pace, that Marc Jacobs decided to present his spring '12 collection for Louis Vuitton on a perfect white carousel. A white curtain lifted to disclose all the girls, in cotton-candy colors, perched and rotating around on equal white ponies. All irony away, the collection was expected to symbolize a joie de vivre, gentleness and a sense of pleasure. All suggestions of last season's fetishism were cast-off for a sugar-coated sweetness and ladylike demeanor.
